Festival News

From Deb Morse, Festival Director and Founder

Whew! Finally spring has arrived and with it weeding and planting. To be truthful, I don’t spend much time gardening at this time of year – the festival has become a full-time year-round labour of love and then some!

This year we’ve hired new staff and contractors to help keep up. And this year, community minded volunteers are helping to shape the festival and what it has to offer like never before.

As a result, there are more exhibitors signing up including more local food purveyors, a better equipped demo kitchen, an expanded Children’s Village, special events in the Japanese Garden and the ‘unusual’ mix of inspiring educational, musical and health related activities designed to move you closer to being ‘the change you wish to see’.

Please read on to find out about who is coming, how you can get advance tickets (save up to 25%), or sign up to exhibit. And, please join our Facebook page to become a fan of Organic Islands! Live Green. Do Good. We’ll show you how!

Organically-aware people meet at Green Drinks

Every month people who work in the environmental field meet up at
informal sessions known as Green Drinks, where a lively mixture of
people from NGOs, academia, government and business get together to
shmooze, socialise, and discuss green events and business ideas .

These events are unstructured, but many people have found employment,
made friends, developed new ideas, done deals, and enjoyed the
serendipity. It's a great way of catching up with people you know and
making new contacts.
